Our MOT testing centre is in the heart of Starbeck and easily accessible from Harrogate, Knaresborough and Wetherby. We even offer a reminder service so there is no need to ever be driving with no MOT.
The car mot has been around for over sixty years. Originally named after the Ministry of Transport test, it is now governed by the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency), not VOSA as some think! (The MOT has more acronyms than any other area of vehicle repairs ).
The MOT check is a comprehensive series of checks around your vehicle designed to ensure that your vehicle is above the minimum road legal standard. In light of recent technological developments, it is now possible to view the results of all MOT tests, history and any failures that a vehicle may have incurred from 2005 onwards online. When does a car need its first MOT?
You must get an MOT for your vehicle by either:
The third anniversary of its registration
The anniversary of its last MOT, if it’s over 3 years old
Mot’s are due every year on a vehicle after its third year, anniversary
What is the cost of an MOT?
The recommended retail price for an MOT is £54.85 however we also include a FREE retest assuming we do any repairs. You may be charged for a retest fee if the repair is carried out elsewhere, please ask. A free retest must be carried out within 10 working days. A word of caution though; cheap MOT’s often have a higher rate of failure.
